Serotonin For The New Year

During some downtime over the holidays, I had some reflections.

I have always had a very strong and compelling desire to help others succeed. Especially whatever team I am leading at the time. I want each and every individual to grow and win. I want their success much more than for my own. Maybe that’s because I was never a Good 10  and I always required a very strong team to accomplish objectives and have a better chance of winning the game. Inevitably good players win and succeed together.

Only later I discovered that this obsession to help my team and others also gives me physiological pleasure. According to brain chemistry the more you give, the more serotonin is released and the better you feel. Same thing for the receiver.

She gets, and she feels good.

Helping others is a WIN-WIN situation.

So here’s a potential New Year’s resolution for us all.

If not now, then when. If not you, then who?
